Micky Dymond crashes badly with the racing bike!
The day before yesterday, former motocross rider Micky Dymond suffered a serious crash during a bike ride with his friends David Bailey and Steve Weidler. The three had just left for a bike ride in Yorba Linda, California. Just as he removed his hand to make an adjustment to the handlebars, he hit something and his front wheel went out from under him.
He landed on the head and was unconscious for 5 to 10 minutes. Emergency services were called and Micky was taken to an intensive care unit at a nearby hospital.
The doctors found three brain lesions, two of which had stopped bleeding in the meantime. No damage was found to the spine. He also has several broken ribs and bruises all over his body. He will remain in intensive care until the bleeding in the head has stopped. For the time being, Mickey Dymond will only be woken up to administer medication. Hopefully there will be positive news about his health in the coming days.
Mickey Dymond was a rapidly rising star at the time because it only took him about two years to rise from a novice to the top. In his early years he rode for exotic brands such as Maico. He won two AMA National titles (1986 and 1987) aboard a Honda. He also won the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in 2005 and was a very creditable rider in the Supermotard. He also wrote a book entitled “The Legends of the Road: Where physical limits meet faith and pride”. It is about his bicycle journey across America together with his friends Jeff Ward, David Bailey, Doug Henry and Ben Bostrom. Dymond would visit the Superbiker race in Mettet this weekend.
