VLM Ranst: Jens Van Meer's title party!
The second consecutive VLM Inters title was already in the making for Jens Van Meer. During the penultimate championship test today in Broechem-Ranst, the BeTeMo rider also gained mathematical certainty. However, title candidate Steve Seronval did what he could and finished second twice.
In VLM circles the name MC De Stroeckxvrienden sounds like a bell. Their organization on Van den Nestlaan needs little introduction. Reigning champion Jens Van Meer was able to celebrate his title on familiar ground. Van Meer did this with conviction: pole and a series victory in both heats!
Seronval was in the lead in both series. However, it was not possible to counter Van Meer because he always put things in order early on. Van Meer and Seronval were joined on the podium by Mike Vanderstraeten (6-3). The Fun MX leader counted one point more than Bram Valckx (9 -4).
There was also a clear winner in the quarter liters. Inters 250 champion Greg Smets showed again that he can hold his own among the 500cc motorcycles. Smets was victorious in both races. The prestige battle for the unofficial title of best home rider went to Brent Aerden (3-2). Brent finished second with equal points on Bram Schoepen (2-3). Aerden still has a view of third place in the final standings because he has snuck within eight points of Schoepen! Kristof Scheynen, currently second in the championship, finished just off the podium in fourth.
Next weekend the championship will take place during the VLM final on the Horensbergdam in Genk. Until then!
