Valentino Roks on his way to title extension!
Valentino Roks also won the tenth competition of the NK quads in Heerde. Roks won both heats on the Kamperweg circuit and achieved his sixth day victory of the season. Mike Koolhaas was the only one who could really offer any resistance to Roks, but had to settle for second place in the daily rankings after finishing second twice. Dani Hoffard took third place on the podium with a fourth and third place in the heats. He kept Luc van Lenning and Gymano Besems behind him.
First heat
It was championship leader Roks who was the best at the start. He was immediately followed by Koolhaas, van Lenning, Hoffard and Robin Mouw. In the second round Mouw fell far back and we did not see him pass again in the remainder of the race. It was Tom van der Spek who now came through in fifth place, slightly behind the front four. In the meantime, Koolhaas increased the pressure in the battle for the lead. Roks managed to hold on and after four laps the positions seemed to be taken. Dennis Jansen had now passed van der Spek and finished fifth. The differences between the top four increased slightly with each round and it was Roks who was once again able to credit Koolhaas, Lenning and Hoffard with a heat victory. Van der Spek had to drop his pace and lost fifth place on the seventh lap to Mike Ver boven who saw the checkered flag in fifth.
Second heat
It was Roks again who was the fastest to leave. He was followed again by Koolhaas. Behind him, Hoffard, Gymano Besems and van Lenning formed the top 5. A status quo quickly seemed to form between the first five. However, this was not taken into account by Koolhaas, who managed to take the lead on the fifth lap. For Hoffard, the pace of Koolhaas and Roks was too high and he slowly but surely had to leave more and more space. He was followed within a few seconds by Gymano Besems and van Lenning, followed by Ver Boven. However, Roks managed to get past Koolhaas again on the ninth lap and took both the heat and the day's victory. Hoffars managed to hold on to third place. Ver Boven rode strong final laps and passed Van Lenning to finish fifth just behind Gymano Besems.
In the National Championship standings, Roks is now almost certain of title renewal. With a lead of 128 points, only a disqualification can keep him from the title. Tom van der Spek loses his sixth place and passes both Gymano Besems and Jammie Lommers.
The last competition will be held on October 6 in Holten.
