TBT: Avis replaces Langston during MX des Nation!
It is #ThrowBackThursday Today we go back to September 19, 2003. Wyatt Avis, who has lived in the Netherlands for years, will compete for South Africa during the Motocross des Nations. The Yamaha rider, who is busy looking for a team for 2004, will replace fellow countryman and former World Champion Grant Langston!
There are several stories about staying away from Langston. He wouldn't be satisfied with South Africa's original team; Tyla Rattay, Garth Swanepoel and himself. Former 125cc and 250cc World Champion Greg Albertijn should be in the team according to Langston. However, it was Albertijn who did not want to come to Zolder to represent his native country! Due to the absence of 'The Champ', Avis has been called up for the team that could provide a surprise on October 4-5.
