Kevin Fors surprising 500cc winner in Orp
The circuit at the Kleine Gete is not only unique in Belgium. It's a kind of old school circuit where one rider feels like a fish in water and the other just can't get into his rhythm. That turned out to be the case again today!
In the first heat, Kevin Fors surprised friend and foe on 'the little Citadel'. Fors had an excellent start but had to be constantly on the lookout for Shaun Simpson. The lap times of both fighters were very evenly matched. Simpson, in turn, had to watch out for Micha-Boy De Waal, who came on strong after a start in the top 6. The Hutten Metaal Racing Yamaha rider eventually finished third, less than 1,2 seconds behind Simpson.
Polesitter Jeffrey Dewulf was able to demonstrate his throttle control in the second heat. Dewulf had started second, had to make way for Ken De Dycker, only to catch up with leader Fors late in the heat. The Reytec Husavarna rider led almost the entire race but had to let Dewulf pass three laps before the end. Good old Steve Ramon finished third for De Waal. With Dewulf, Fors and Ramon, three La Chinelle riders were also at the front. Given the nature of the circulation, this is probably not entirely coincidental!
