KEMEA Yamaha Racing: Geerts is looking for an extra medal!
Monster Energy Kemea Yamaha rider Jago Geerts – who won the bronze medal in the FIM MX2 World Championship – has one more goal this season: to win another medal with Belgium in the Motocross of Nations, which takes place this weekend in Assen, Netherlands.
The famous TT circuit of Assen, better known as the 'Cathedral of Speed', was transformed into a motocross course for this weekend. No less than 26,000m³ of sand – Geerts' favorite surface – was brought in for the biggest competition of the season. The Belgian team – with Jeremy Van Horebeek (MXGP), Jago Geerts (MX2) and Kevin Strijbos (Open) – gets a chance to put things right after the disappointing sixth place in Red Bud last year.
No Watson
Normally, both Monster Energy Kemea Yamaha riders were present this weekend in the Motocross of Nations. Ben Watson was selected for the British team, but unfortunately had to drop out due to a broken wrist.

“I made my Nations debut last year in Red Bud. We only finished sixth, a big disappointment. We simply have to perform better this year. All three of us like the sand course in Assen. So we must resolutely aim for the podium. I'm really looking forward to this match. Although it will be difficult for me to compete with those powerful 250 machines with my 450 engine. Well, it's just a great honor to defend the colors of my country. I will give everything to get on the podium.”
