It's all in the details: the Suter coupling
Racing fans are certainly familiar with the Swiss Suter Racing Technology. The company of ex-road race GP rider Eskil Suter was involved in numerous MotoGP and Superbike projects (MuZ, Petronas FP1, Kawasaki, Marc VDS) and has developed frames (Moto2), complete engines and special parts. Now Suter is making waves in the MXGP with the so-called SuperClutch!
At first glance, the Monster Energy Wilvo Yamaha MXGP, Gebben Racing-Van Venrooy-Kawasaki, BikeIt DRT Kawasaki have little in common. However, Arnaud Tonus, Gautier Paulin, Alessandro Lupino, Darian Sanayei and Marcel Conijn (below), all use the Suter Racing SuperClutch.
Since Tonus started using this clutch, the fast Swiss' starts have become better and more consistent. At SRT (Suter Racing Technology) they have been working on advanced clutches for more than 20 years. In '97 Suter introduced her so-called anti-hopping couplings. In short, the anti-hopping mechanism and the clutch are separated. The result is a smoother operating clutch that is very responsive and helps prevent fatigue.
The efficient internal lubrication, the simple installation and the high-quality finish (anodised Teflon coating) also make the SuperClutch an outsider. The Suter Superclutch is well established in both road racing (from the Superbike World Championship to Moto3) and Supermoto. Steve Dixon is already convinced: “The coupling works really well. In terms of adjustment, there are many options to adapt to the pilot's driving style. You can refine almost endlessly with different strengths of springs. At top level, the Superclutch is certainly an advantage!”
Arnaud Tonus' mechanic Dennis Dierckx is also won over by this revolutionary clutch: “Arnaud loves the feeling and the Superclutch has certainly already proven its worth. Although Suter Racing Technology's roots lie in road racing, they really have a passion for making engines better. Eskil itself is the best showcase for its products. I have rarely met someone who speaks with so much knowledge.”
Suter Racing Technology does everything it can to improve their product even further. Suter has its own mechanic on site at many GPs. The feedback from the World Championship riders is then used to make detailed improvements in series production. The Suter SuperClutch is available directly from Suter Racing for the most popular motocross and enduro motorcycles. The complete set costs €868,15
