Prado at a lonely height, Geerts takes a step to third place
Winning his second world title is a matter of time for Jorge Prado. During the fifteenth Grand Prix, the 18-year-old Spaniard managed to book his fourteenth victory of the season! The KTM rider managed to win both heats in Imola ahead of Thomas Kjer Olsen. In the second heat, Calvin Vlaanderen finished third despite a small slide. In the daily rankings it is Maxime Renaux who comes third. The Yamaha rider now crosses the finish line in fourth place ahead of Jago Geerts. This also places the KEMEA driver fourth overall. In the standings, Geerts climbs to third place at the expense of Tom Vialle, who remained scoreless this weekend!
In the second moto Geerts takes the best start and wins the FOX Holeshot Award ahead of Prado who takes over the lead one corner later. Geerts immediately comes under pressure from Kjer Olsen and when the Belgian goes down, the Dane is assured of second place. Flanders rides a lonely race and the Honda rider crosses the finish line in third place ahead of Renaux. The Frenchman has a great battle with Geerts for fourth place. This is not only a fight for points but also for a podium place overall. When Geerts finishes fourth, he can climb onto the podium, but the rider from Balen is unable to do so. Renaux finished fourth and could celebrate his first GP podium during his team's home GP. Cyril Genot's efforts are not rewarded in this round either, the A1M Motorsports driver crosses the finish line in 21st place. Marcel Conijn unfortunately does not reach the finish. Brent Vandoninck will unfortunately not be in action in the second round.
