Keiheuvel LIVE: Flanders beats surprising Horgmo
One lap so close was the quarter-liter revelation of the day Kevin Horgmo (Creymert Racing) with his first Joël Roelants trophy on the Keiheuvel! The fast Norwegian won the first heat and led for a long time in the recovery. In the end, however, Calvin Vlaanderen made it. Since the HRC Honda rider was second in the opener, he won the final standings.
Horgmo had already shown his skills in the morning with his fastest time in the qualifying sessions. To everyone's surprise, however, he also took the lead in the first series. The Creymert Racing rider shot away like an arrow from a bow and led from start to finish. Due to a mistake in the second round, top favorite Geerts had to settle for third place after a strong Calvin Vlaanderen. Van Doninck had started just outside the top 10 but recovered to P5.
After a cannon start, Horgmo led the dance again. However, Flanders on the podium in Lommel showed himself to be super motivated. From outside the top 5, the South African Dutchman quickly stormed to three, took advantage of a glitch from Geerts and put Horgmo under pressure at the end. The Norwegian, in turn, made a mistake and saw the victory slip away. A regular Ben Watson (4-3) still gave Kemea a podium place. In the final standings, home rider Geerts has to settle for fourth place, although hopefully he can take revenge in the super final!
Cyril Genot confirmed his top form with a nice fifth place, while Raivo Dankers was the best northern neighbor. At the Nationals, Wannes Van de Voorde won the Bart Goelen Trophy. the TBS Conversions KTM rider was the best National in the series and had to let local hero Andy Truyts go in the final!
