Boyd van der Voorn strongest in Cuijk
During the MON national motocross in Cuijck, Boyd van der Voorn won the day in the MX 2 nationals / inters. Van der Voorn managed to win both heats after a catch-up race. Second place went to Rutger Baauw with two second place finishes in the heats. Michel Otten only had to finish fifth and fourth in the heats to keep both Erik de Bruyn and Rick Wennekes behind him.
First round MX 2 nationals/inters
The holeshot was for Jaap Janssen ahead of Baauw, Schoonderbeek, Rijkers and Otten. Janssen, Baauw and Schoonderbeek quickly had an advantage over the pursuers and soon seemed to decide who would take the heat victory. Behind them, after two laps, it was De Bruyn who had passed Rijkers and Otten and finished fourth. Van der Voorn managed to pass Otten on the second lap and then took fifth place from Rijkers one lap later. In the following lap, Otten also passed Rijkers and the top five seemed to have positioned themselves. Janssen and Baauw had now shaken off Schoonderbeek and de Bruyn and van der Voorn were well behind them. However, this was without Van der Voorn, who rode a strong round. After initially passing by De Bruyn, Schoonderbeek was also a victim of his urge to act and he managed to connect with Janssen and Baauw. In the eleventh lap Baauw was passed and two laps later Janssen also had to admit his superiority to De Bruyn. Janssen also crashed shortly after being passed by De Bruyn and fell back to tenth place. As a result, it was Otten who managed to finish the round in fifth place behind Schoonderbeek and de Bruyn.
Second round MX 2 nationals inters:
It was now Rijkers who was the fastest way ahead of Baauw, van der Voorn, Wennekes and Mike Heijmans. Baauw took the lead on the first lap and quickly seemed to take a decisive lead. Rijkers also had to let van der Voorn pass in the second round and, like Heijmans, slowly fell further and further back. De Bruyn had already passed Heijmans and together with Wennekes he also passed Rijkers. Halfway through the heat, Rijkers once again had to give up his place in the top five to Otten. De Bruyn had now passed Wennekes and was in third place for a long time. Van der Voorn was again the fastest in the field and, just like in the first moto, managed to catch up and pass the leader. He ended the heat winning again with a ten second lead over Baauw. Wennekes again fought past De Bruyn and saw the checkered flag in third place. Behind that was fifth place for Otten.
