Tommy Searle on his Italian MXGP!
He quickly settled into eighth place in the first moto and battled defiantly with the other riders throughout the entire thirty minute plus two lap race to achieve his best result of the season. With an even better start in the second moto we saw him narrowly miss out on the holeshot award. Ultimately he managed to finish in a safe seventh place.
Tommy Searle: “I didn't really feel good on Saturday with my hand and my rib. The timed training wasn't that good, but when the starting gate dropped the bike was so good that I had a good start and that made the qualifying race a lot easier. In the beginning I lacked some speed, but later in the race I found a good rhythm. It wasn't a great race, but I was happy with my speed. Sunday was even better and I'm really happy with sixth place because the last eight weeks have been really difficult for me. I was really disappointed because I couldn't train because of my injuries when I got the chance to ride the factory bike. It was hard and I had no expectations for this weekend. I just wanted to do my job the best I could. Once I get into the rhythm I don't feel too much pain, but I miss the intensity of racing at this level because I couldn't train between races. The bike made it easy for me, it's so good and that makes a big difference.”
