KTM finally finds success in the 2019 AMA 250MX series!
It has already been a difficult season for KTM's official 250 team in America. The Troy Lee Design Red Bull KTM team had a mediocre supercross season and also failed to succeed in the AMA Outdoor Nationals. So now for the penultimate game of the season at Budds Creek!
Shane McElrath managed to win both motos for the team and thus took his second overall victory in a motocross race, his first of this season. In the daily rankings, KTM pilot Adam Cianciarulo (2-5) and Justin Cooper (6-2) were ahead. Dylan Ferrandis also finished fourth in the day's results with two fourth places, ahead of RJ Hampshire. Other interesting finishes included Hunter Lawrence (10-13) for twelfth overall and Jo Shimoda (13-12) for thirteenth overall. Jett Lawrence, Hunter's younger brother, unfortunately scored no points with a 24th and 30th place and this can also be said of the other rookie; Carson Mumford who was classified thirty-first and thirty-ninth. The Swiss Killian Auberson also scored no points with a thirty-third and thirty-first place.
The title has come a little closer for Adam Cianciarulo. The American Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki pilot has a lead of 50 points with one race to go, with 30 points still to be earned. This is reassuring, although AC92 may still start the last Ironman race with a clenched buttocks after throwing away his supercross title a few months ago.
Note: Note how Dylan Ferrandis is run over in the second moto by Mitchell Falk, who was riding in the opposite direction of the course.
