100 world titles for Husqvarna motorcycles!
From Bill Nilsson's motocross title in the 500cc class in 1960 to Mattia Guadagnini's victory in the 125cc class in 2019 – Husqvarna Motorcycles is sounding like continued success in motorsports. 59 years ago, Husqvarna Motorcycles won its first world title. In 2019, the counter reached 100. The brand's track record now includes 58 motorcyclists' and 42 manufacturers' titles, achieved in six different racing disciplines.
Husqvarna Motorcycles has emerged as an icon in the international motocross world and is synonymous with excellence. The brand won its very first world title in 1960, when the
ambitious Swede Bill Nilsson won the FIM Motocross World Championship in the 500cc class. Husqvarna Motorcycles won no fewer than nine motocross world titles during the 1960s, the dawn of the sport's golden era. That decade saw the legendary Torsten Hallman triumph four times in the FIM Motocross World Championship in the 250cc class.
Mattia Guadagnini's victory at the 125 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship in the 2019cc class gave the Swedish brand its hundredth world title. Just like with Nilsson 59 years ago, the young Italian's victory makes it clear how strongly Husqvarna Motorcycles is committed to ultra-modern technology and international motorsport. His victory also fits in perfectly with the pioneering spirit that has characterized the brand since its early days. The excellent motocross performance stands out on the impressive list of honors with a hundred world titles of Husqvarna motorcycles, but the brand strives for success in all branches of motorsport with its excellent products.
Many of the biggest names in enduro have raced for Husqvarna Motorcycles. When the
Czech star Otakar Kotraba triumphed at the FIM Enduro World Championship in 1990
the 400cc class, the brand won its first title in the terrain. Swedish star Anders
Eriksson achieved a stunning performance with six titles. And in 2006, Husqvarna won
Motorcycles won no fewer than six riders' and constructors' titles in one season.
Expanding into other racing disciplines has brought Husqvarna Motorcycles numerous world titles. For example, the American Colton Haaker claimed the title three times at the FIM Super Enduro World Championship. The Chilean Pablo Quintanilla won the first FIM cross-country rally world championship for the brand. In 2018, Jason Anderson won the AMA supercross championship in the 450cc class on an FC 450 in the United States.
Since 2014, Husqvarna Motorcycles has achieved record sales year after year. The brand thus strengthens its presence in the motocross and enduro segments, and also supports motorcycle enthusiasts on the road with an increasingly wide choice of models. Motorsports undeniably plays a key role in the history of Husqvarna Motorcycles. The hundredth world title is a remarkable milestone in the brand's long-standing success story and an important incentive to continue building superior factory motorcycles in the future.
