WMX Czech Republic: Courtney Duncan also wins second series!
The second series of the Motocross World Championship for women has just been held in Loket. Today it was in the Czech Republic with a temperature of 21 degrees and the circuit was in good condition as always. New Zealand's Courtney Duncan had a perfect weekend in Bohemia with a double series victory and continues to advance in the World Cup.
Larissa Papenmeier was the fastest to leave behind the starting gate, with Nancy van de Ven and Courtney Duncan in her wake. The latter quickly put the finishing touches on him and stormed to the lead like a comet. The Danish Sara Andere crashed heavily in the opening lap and had to restart from last position. She finished well in 15th place. After four laps we found no fewer than five Dutch drivers in the top ten. Amandine Verstappen, who started 6th, had already moved up to fourth place. Brenda Wagemans started 17th and crossed the finish line in P13. With three quarters of the race completed, Nicky van Wordrager dropped out of the front and had to give up.
Verstappen was still able to pass van de Ven in the ninth lap. The latter had a tough weekend with a crash in practice, a bent engine and a painful right leg. Still, she reached the podium with a third place in the final standings. Duncan of course won the GP for Papenmeier. She now has a 14 point lead in the standings over Nancy van de Ven. The next GP for the women is on August 18 in Imola, Italy.
