Tomac humiliates friends and foes in Washougal!
Eli Tomac performed quite a show last night and immediately humiliated friend and enemy to the depths of their being. The Monster Energy Kawasaki pilot had very mediocre starts in both motos but what we saw next was brilliant!
Eli Tomac cannot say that the poor starts were due to the engine, his teammate Joey Savatgy managed to claim the holeshot in both series. However, Eli Tomac did not get out of the gate well and only came around the first few corners in seventh place. As a result, he immediately had to get to work and roll up the toppers for him. The first to believe in Eli Tomac's relentless speed are the Husqvarna brothers Dean Wilson and Jason Anderson. Next up is Marvin Musquin, but the Frenchman is a slightly less bite-sized piece and provides resistance for rounds. Every hole is expertly plugged by the Frenchman who fights like a devil in a holy water font. Frustrating for Eli Tomac, who probably knows by now that Ken Roczen, who had taken the lead, is running away second by second. In the sixth round the time has finally come. One lap later, Eli Tomac also adds the scalp of the guilty Cooper Webb to his list.
Teammate Joey Savatgy is not really a problem and then the crazy ride to Ken Roczen really begins. The German on the HRC machine has now created a lead of about seven seconds. Unfortunately not enough for the HRC pilot to hold off Eli Tomac, who was driving brilliantly today! The Monster Energy Kawasaki pilot could even afford a small crash once he arrived at Ken Roczen, after which he closed the gap again. In a beautiful section between the trees, Eli Tomac finally takes over the lead from Ken Roczen, with a beautiful but also daring overtaking maneuver in which both gentlemen briefly came into contact. Following this, Eli Tomac set a few more fast laps. As a result, Ken Roczen crossed the finish line eight seconds behind and the other competition twenty seconds behind and more!!
As already mentioned, in the second moto we see another holeshot for Joey Savatgy. Eli Tomac, however, had an even more disastrous start to the race than in the first moto. Now the Factory Kawasaki pilot was even outside the top ten, in twelve place. While his teammate, Joey Savatgy, quickly had to let Marvin Musquin go first and then Ken Roczen. We see Eli Tomac giving himself too much again to achieve a great catch-up race. However, it will not simply be a race to catch up. The Kawasaki pilot makes rapid progress and has lap times measured that are often two seconds faster than the fastest competitors. As a result, Marvin Musquin and Ken Roczen see the championship leader appear in their wheel after just seven laps. Ken Roczen manages to keep today's superman, the Ironman of Washougal, three laps behind him, Marvin Musquin manages to keep him two laps behind. Then they must bow to the dominance of Eli Tomac the Emperor who tolerated no contradiction today in Washougal! Marvin Musquin finished second, more than ten seconds behind and Ken Roczen came third.
