Junior World Cup: Lata in front of home crowd, Lowlanders disappointed!
Valerio Lata won the FIM Junior World Championship 85cc in front of his home crowd. The KTM rider won both heats on the Arco di Trento circuit. The pupil of national coach Thomas Traversini managed to stay ahead of Edvards Bidzans (4-2) and Matteo Luigi Russi (2-5). The competition did not go well for the lowlanders, Cas Valk became the best of the five that had managed to qualify. The Jimmy Joe Husvarna rider finishes fifteenth. The Belgian twins Lucas and Sacha Coenen both managed to get into the points. Lucas (18-19) scores both heats, Sacha scores one point by entering the first heat in 20th. There are no points for Ivano van Erp and Baptiste Beernaert.
The previous Italian to win this title was Alessandro Lupino. He won the 2006 World Cup final on the Vantaa circuit.
