Hermans/Musset take day victory and lead in ONK!
The ONK sidecars masters once again had an exciting and in some cases a dramatic course. The match resulted in a new leader in the championship with the final match in Lichtenvoorde still to go. The fact that great value is attached to obtaining the title is evident from the fact that Etienne Bax had looked for a replacement baking player for this occasion. It was Lauris Daiders who did the honors for Kasper Stupelis. It was Koen Hermans/Nicolas Musset who ultimately proved to be the strongest. After a mistake by Bax/Daiders in the first heat, Hermans/Musset won the first heat. However, in the second heat the duo encountered problems and were very happy with third place. As a result, they take the lead in the ONK sidecars masters with one point ahead of Bax/Stupelis. Second place went to Marvin van Luchene/Ben van den Bogaart. The duo seemed to take advantage of the problems at Bax/Daiders and Hermans/Musset and thus take the day's victory. However, Hermans/Musset managed to limit the damage in the second round and Van Luchene/van den Bogaart fell just one point short of the day's victory.
The mistake in the first heat of Bax/Stupelis turned out to be a costly one. As a result, the occasional duo had to make do with a fifth place in the first heat. However, revenge was sweet in the second heat and with the heat victory they managed to achieve third place in the daily rankings.
Fourth place went to Arne Dierckens/Robbie Bax with a third and fourth place in the heats. Julian Veldman/Glenn Janssen completed the top 5.
First heat
The holeshot premium of 100 euros went to Bax/Daiders. They were followed by Dierckens/Bax, van Luchene/van den Bogaart, Hermans/Musset and Justin Keuben/Bjorn Roes. In the first lap Hermans/Musset passed van Luchene/van den Bogaart. In the third, both Hermans/Musset and van Luchene/van den Bogaart passed Dierckens/Bax. However, Bax/Daiders had already created a nice lead and seemed to already have the match under control. In the following round it was Veldman/Janssen who passed Keuben/Roes and entered the top five. Despite the hunt that Hermans/Musset opened for Bax/Daiders, the top five seemed to have settled down. Hermans/Musset were the only ones at the top who came closer to their predecessors and the rest of the differences slowly but surely increased. The heat victory seemed to go to Bax/Daiders, but things went wrong for this duo in the penultimate round. When overtaking a straggler, they made an unexpected maneuver and Bax/Daidershier followed completely behind. This caused the duo to fall back to third place. However, this did not mean that the damage had been suffered. Both Bax and the sidecar suffered damage as a result of this collision and had to give up two more places. Hermans/Musset won the round ahead of Luchene/van den Bogaart, Dierckens/Bax and Veldman/Janssen. Bax/Daiders took fifth place.
Second heat
In the second heat it was again Bax/Daiders with the holeshot ahead of Hermans/Musset, van Luchene/van den Bogaart, Gert van Werven/Peter Beunk and Davy Sanders/Lari Kunnas. In the first lap Hermans/Musset took the lead and Dierckens/Bax passed Sanders/Kunnas. One lap later, Dierckens/Bax also passed van Werven/Beunk and now finished fourth. Hermans/Musset had problems with the caberateur and suddenly fell back to third place. They could no longer keep up with the pace of Bax/Daiders and Luchene/van den Bogaart and they had to lose more places. The heat had already come to an end for Sanders/Kunnas. Kunnas had gotten a stone on his finger and appeared to have suffered an open fracture. Bax/Daiders took a small lead and won the round ahead of Luchene/van den Bogaart. Hermans/Musset managed to hold on to third place and took the day's victory.
Fourth place went to Dierckens/Bax and van Werven/Beunk just managed to hold off Veldman/Janssen.
