VLM: Smooth home win for Yentel Martens
As a warm-up for tomorrow's championship tests, the Heeserbergen was also raced today for part of the Pentecost Trophy. Home rider Yentel Martens steered his Husqvarna to two smooth victories. Greg Smets was the best in the quarter liters.
BeTeMo's Belgium-Netherlands confrontation mainly focuses on the sidecars and quads. For the solo riders here, this naturally created a track that was slightly different than usual.
In the timed training, Jens Van Meer lit the fuse with a nice pole. In the series he always had to bow his head to Yentel Martens. Despite a mistake, he regained the lead in the opener while he built a very strong lead in the second moto. In the run-up to the top match this morning, champion Van Meer gained confidence. After “Y-Mart”, Jens was without any discussion the strongest.
The balance of power was also clearly established for third place. Mike Vanderstraeten (photo above) finished third twice. An ill Cedric Grobben - fourth in series one - had to lead the way for the restart.
Who else but Greg Smets?
A selective starting field in the 250cc class. Without Jonathan Banken and Enzo Aerden. Here too, a logical winner seized power. Greg Smets easily won twice. Jordi Van Mieghem (3-2) took the lead for the second step on the podium thanks to a better second series. Dieter Vromans (2-3) confirmed that he will also have to be taken into account tomorrow!
