Van de Moosdijk wins in Orlyonok!
The fourth race of the European 250cc Championship was won by Roan van de Moosdijk! The 18-year-old rider finished first and second on the Orlyonok circuit, taking the day's victory! A great achievement for the F&H Racing Team driver who is of course also doing good business in the title race. In the same title battle Alberto Forato has lost the lead, his 18 point lead was erased in one fell swoop by Rubini! The Frenchman (3-1) finished second in Russia ahead of Rene Hofer (2-3). Van de Moosdijk remains third in the championship, 21 points behind the leader!
It seems that Raivo Dankers takes the best start during the second heat, but Rubini is able to get inside and comes out of the first corner as the leader, followed by Van de Moosdijk, Elzinga and Dankers! In the first lap Elzinga sees both Dankers and Rene Hofer pass. At the front, leader Rubini sets the pace and Van de Moosdijk can follow the Honda rider but cannot attack. Dankers manages to hold on to third place for about 15 minutes, but then Hofer comes up and the Austrian becomes. In the final phase, Forato is also too strong for Dankers, but the Yamaha rider scores fantastically with a fifth place! Elzinga crosses the finish line in sixth place, while Raf Meuwissen also manages to get into the points with an eleventh place!
“The start was very important in this second moto. I started second and quickly took over second place. I could follow Rubini well and I saw that the lead over third place was increasing. When I realized from the pits that I would win the race, I focused purely on finishing this heat. We would like to thank everyone from the F&H Racing Team!” says Van de Moosdijk after winning!
Next week the championship continues in Latvia!
