Prado wins ahead of Geerts, Vaessen fifth in Kegums
For the first time in his already impressive career, Jorge Prado has won the Latvian Grand Prix. The KTM rider managed to win both motos! On the sandy circuit, Jago Geerts (2-2) came second ahead of Thomas Kjer Olsen (3-3). A great performance by Bas Vaessen, the KTM UK rider (photo) finished fifth in the day's standings! That is his best performance in his GP career! It is the 24th GP victory for Prado who further extends his lead and now has 30 points more than Olsen.

After his next FOX Holeshot Award, Prado knows how to control the match. For a moment Kjer Olsen can think about his third victory here in Kegums, but the Spaniard takes distance and wins! In the first lap, Adam Sterry and Mathys Boisrame collide, causing Geerts to go off the track. From tenth place, the KEMEA driver returns to second place. The Belgian manages to displace Kjer Olsen from second place with four minutes left on the clock. Third place goes to Husqvarna rider Kjer Olsen ahead of Ben Watson and Maxime Renaux! The Frenchman rides very strongly and he is able to parry an attack from Vaessen in the last lap! The Limburger crosses the finish line in sixth place. Of the other Laaglanders, only Vandoninck scores, he takes a point with 20th place. Cyril Genot and Davy Pootjes will not finish, Freek van der Vlist was injured on Saturday and must rest for the time being.

The second round it's Prado again with the best start for Kjer Olsen, Tom Vialle and Sterry! It is largely a copy of the first round because Prado takes distance and drives to victory. Kjer Olsen runs into problems in the final phase when Geerts finds the connection and the Yamaha rider is now the fastest in the final sprint to the checkered flag. Watson also crosses the finish line in fourth place this round, now ahead of fellow countryman Sterry! The Brit sends his KX250F to fifth place ahead of teammate Jacobi who started this moto in 27th position after some action in the first corner! Vandoninck scores ten points, the Honda rider crosses the finish line in eleventh and Genot takes one point during his GP debut! Pawjes will not be in action in the second round due to a painful ankle!
Next week the championship continues at the Teutschenthal circuit for the German GP.
