Prado wins both heats, Geerts third!
Jorge Prado won the Russian Grand Prix in sunny Orlyonok. The KTM rider managed to win both heats ahead of Thomas Kjer Olsen (2-2) and Jago Geerts (3-3). In the title battle, the difference with Kjer Olsen is further widened, Kjer Olsen is now twenty points behind the reigning champion. Geerts continues to impress, he manages to score well in both heats and can therefore climb onto the podium again! Brent Vandoninck had a great weekend, the Honda rider scored thirteenth and fourteenth! Not a good weekend for the Dutch because Davy Pootjes and Bas Vaessen are unable to score.

The FOX Holeshot Award goes to Darian Sanayei in the first round, who manages to hold the lead for more than ten minutes. Kjer Olsen takes the lead and it looks like the Dane will win, but it is Prado who is getting closer little by little. With two laps to go, the 18-year-old KTM rider manages to take the lead and wins ahead of Kjer Olsen and Geerts, who comes dangerously close to 'TKO' due to the battle for the lead. Tom Vialle crosses the finish line in fourth ahead of Mitchell Evans.

Prado managed to win the FOX Holeshot Award in the second round. Sanayei follows and the DRT driver manages to hold onto second place for three laps ahead of Kjer Olsen. When the Husqvarna rider takes over second place, Prado has already taken a four-second lead. This gap is no longer being cleared, in fact Prado is only expanding its lead further. Kjer Olsen has to fight with Geerts in the final phase, but the KEMEA rider now has to settle for third place. Michele Cervellin now crosses the finish line in fourth ahead of Vialle, who moves up to fourth place in the championship standings!
Next week is the Latvian Grand Prix, the ninth race of the season will be held in Kegums.
