Mike van Grinsven reigns supreme again
Mike van Grinsven also won during the seventh competition for the ONK quads masters. With two heat victories, he still remained undefeated in the 2019 cycle. Second place again went to Joe Maessen (photo) with two second places in the heats. With Ricardo Phoelich's third place, the daily rankings had the usual podium of this season. Fourth place went to the strong driving Ruben van Lith. Based on the second heat, Marc de Vries kept Tuur van Hoof (Bel) behind him and took fifth place.
First heat
The holeshot was for van Grinsven ahead of Maeesen, Phoelich, van Lith and Jan Hoogendoorn. It was de Cuyper (Bel) who passed both Hoogendoor and van Lith in the initial phase and came through in fourth. For Hoogendoorn this was the beginning of a free fall. The gaps between each other became slightly larger with each round and the battle was quickly over. The only shift in the front ranks was for van Hoof, who passed van Lith on the fifth lap and took over fifth place. Maessen won the heat with a wide lead over Maessen, who again had a wide lead over Phoelich. De Cuyper and van Hoof upheld the Belgian honor with a fourth and fifth place in the heat.
Second heat
Once again it was van Grinsven who was the fastest away from Maessen, van Lith, van Hoof and Hoogendoorn. The battle for the heat victory was quickly decided. Van Grinsven was at least 3 seconds ahead of Maessen per lap and again took the heat victory with more than a minute lead. Maessen could afford to slow down in the final phase and convincingly took second place. Behind this duo, Hoogendoorn again quickly fell back and the battle for third place took place between van Lith, Phoelich, van Hoof and de Vries. It was Phoelich who passed van Lith on the last lap and claimed third place. Van Lith was again followed by one second by de Vries, who had already passed van Hoof in the previous lap.
