Finland back on the MXGP calendar in 2020!
During a press release from Youthstream in Kegums we were told that another MXGP is planned in Finland next year. The GP will take place at the Kymi Ring, which is under construction. It has been since 2014 that a Finnish race was scheduled in the Motocross World Championship.
Five years ago the competition took place in Hyvinkää and was won by Antonio Cairoli. The Kymi Ring is a prestigious project in Finland because the intention is to organize a MotoGP next year in addition to an MXGP. The circuit would even receive an F.I.A. license with the intention of organizing an F1 competition there in the future. The circuit is located just outside Kouvola, approximately 130 km from the capital Helsinki. The Finnish MXGP would be organized next year by Lahti Events in collaboration with Youthstream and the F.I.M.
It is not known whether a multi-year contract was concluded with this organization. A five-year agreement has already been signed with organizer Dorna for the MotoGP!
