Dean Gregoire secures EMX final!
The fifth and final race of the European 65cc North-West Championship went well for the Team Youth Pro MX. At the Arnhem circuit, Dean Gregoire finished very well in sixth place. This qualifies him for the final next month during the Czech Grand Prix. The top ten of the four European regions come together on the Loket circuit to compete for the EMX65 title! Teammate Sjevy Klokgieter also performed well on the Gelderland circuit. He managed to finish 17th in the daily rankings. The victory went to Lotte van Drunen, she came second and first, which gave her the 'overall'. The overall victory after five games went to the Czech Vitezslav Marek.
EMX65:
Dean gets off to a reasonable start in the first heat of the weekend and starts the race in twelfth place, immediately followed by teammate Sjevy. While Dean quickly worked his way back into the top ten, Sjevy remained in thirteenth place. He has great duels, but the Helmond man knows how to decide each one in his favor. After two laps Dean has already worked his way up to sixth place, but due to a mistake he loses this position for a while. In the second half of the race the KTM rider managed to recover and gained two more places. The Alpinestars-clad crosser crosses the finish line in a fantastic fifth place. Sjevy has to deal with another attack in the final phase and as a result he loses another place, the Vos Oss rider therefore crosses the finish line in fourteenth!
Dean's start in the second moto is much better and he manages to get through the first corner in sixth place. Thanks to a nice inside bend, the Belgian Lucas can be passed and he manages to hold on to fifth place for the first half of the race. Then Kooiker comes up but he makes a mistake and Dean takes back fifth place. In the last lap, however, it is the British Boughen who manages to take fifth place from Dean. The rider from Geldrop finished sixth in this heat and so also in the daily rankings. Unfortunately, the match goes less well for Sjevy. He starts fourteenth but cannot find the right pace. He then drops back to 17th place in two laps, only to crash a little later. The motorcycle lies exactly against a ski jump, making it very difficult for Sjevy to get the motorcycle back on both wheels. A lot of time is lost, but the student manages to get the job done and can finish the race. Unfortunately, there are no points this time, but with a 25th place he will see the checkered flag!
Next game:
The KNMV Open Dutch Youth Championship will continue on June 23 in Geldermalsen. The 11MX Masters Kids in France is scheduled for July 13-14-24, followed by the EMX final two weeks later!
