Championship leader Cas Valk looks back on Rhenen!
Yesterday the third Dutch Masters of Motocross competition took place in Rhenen. The biggest national races of the Benelux are always exciting, but it certainly was for 85cc talent Cas Valk. After all, the brother of WMX rider Lynn recently switched to a new team. Read the experiences of Cas and his family here!
“We went to Rhenen with a feeling of tension in our bodies. What will it bring for Cas? A new team, Jimmy Joe Pol motors Husqvarna, together with our trusted tuner BeWo. Haven't ridden a Husky for seven to eight months, but luckily last year's bike was still in the garage so we could switch gears quickly this week!
On Wednesday evening before the race, we worked until 23.00 p.m. to get the engine ready. Then of course the big question is how will this go? The timed training ended in a super first place and this meant that Cas could choose where he would stand. Together with Jeff Jansen, the options were discussed and the interior was chosen. The response and start were good. He came out of the first corner in second place and immediately went through to first place!
Cas did not give up this place and so he crossed the finish line as the winner. During the break we continued to work on the engine and suspension to give him good confidence again. The start of the second round was great again and on his BeWo tuned Pol Husky with STE exhaust he was second again in the corner and then immediately took over first place again. Once again Cas was able to hold on to this until the finish. Cas is now also at the top of the rankings and has a 7 point lead over the second.
This week his new Husqvarna is being built up with another RiWa frame. BeWo and EHR will also join forces to give Cas the power he needs to compete at the front in the various competitions to come.
Thank you very much to everyone who helped get Cas to the start in Rhenen: Jeff Janssen, Bennie Wolsink, Peter Maus (2faces graphics), Ryan and team JOPA, Eddy van der Hoek, Rikus van der Wall (RiWa), Menno van der Zee, Ties Pol and Husqvarna Netherlands.
