Jorge Prado wins, but not by force majeure!
The seventh race of the FIM MX2 World Championship was won by Jorge Prado. It is his sixth victory of the season but it was not an easy one! The first round was won by Jago Geerts, who also pushed the championship leader to the limit in the second round! Geerts (1-2) comes second in the daily rankings ahead of Thomas Kjer Olsen (3-5). The Spaniard is doing well in the title fight, the difference with 'TKO' has now increased to 14 points.

In the first heat Prado takes the best start, but then seems to take distance. Geerts comes out of the first corner in sixth place, but the rider from Balen quickly works his way up to second place. In the second half of the race Prado starts to make mistakes and Geerts comes closer to the leader. The audience takes Geerts by the hand, after which the distance between the leaders becomes smaller and smaller. The next mistake gives Geerts the connection, who then goes on the attack and takes over the lead. The Belgian wins ahead of Prado and Kjer Olsen, 33 seconds behind the winner! Tom Vialle crosses the finish line in fourth ahead of Davy Pootjes. Bas Vaessen scores points thanks to a fifteenth place, Brent Vandoninck (23rd) and Rene de Jong (26th) are unable to do so.

Prado also managed to win the FOX Holeshot Award in the second round, narrowly ahead of Adam Sterry. Geerts also comes in second place in this round, after which he seems to be closing the gap on leader Prado. A slide causes Geerts' plan to fail, Prado is able to gain enough lead and the 18-year-old rider is victorious! Geerts comes second ahead of teammate Ben Watson. Mitchell Evans crosses the finish line in fourth ahead of Kjer Olsen. Vaessen is now the best Dutchman with seventh place ahead of fellow countryman Pootjes. Again no points for Vandoninck (22nd) and De Jong (24th)
The championship will continue in Russia in two weeks, followed immediately by the competitions in Latvia and Germany!
