Geerts brings back the tension with a double hit!
Despite his 29-point deficit, Jago Geerts does not want to give up in the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross. The Yamaha rider managed to win both heats in Rhenen and thus brings back the tension in the title battle. Henry Jacobi had a difficult second heat in which the German still finished fifth. In the daily rankings, Ben Watson (3-2) completes KEMEA's success by finishing second ahead of Roan van de Moosdijk (4-3). Jacobi (2-5) is fourth in the daily rankings, but he remains the leader in the standings.
In the time training Watson is the fastest, but the sprint to the first corner is won by Tom Vialle. The Frenchman takes the HGS Holeshot Award ahead of Geerts. The Belgian quickly takes the lead and is immediately followed by Jacobi. The leader in the standings does not want to lose sight of the KEMEA driver. The first ten minutes are successful, but then the German makes mistakes and loses the connection. Van de Moosdijk follows his German teammate closely. Initially Vialle is in fourth place, but then Watson arrives. The Briton passes the Frenchman and can later also pass Van de Moosdijk. Then a duel for second place arises between Jacobi and Watson, who can please his teammate in the lead. The rider from Nottingham tries everything to take over second place, but it doesn't work. Geerts wins ahead of Jacobi and Watson. Fourth place goes to Van de Moosdijk and his compatriot Bas Vaessen completes the top five!
Vialle also makes the best start in the second moto and the KTM rider wins the HGS Holeshot Award ahead of Geerts and Van de Moosdijk. The Belgian leaves no doubt about it and quickly takes the lead. Van de Moosdijk tries to chase but the rider from Balen is too fast. Watson manages to take over second place in the second half of the race. Van de Moosdijk comes third ahead of Vaessen and Jacobi! In the last lap the 22-year-old rider managed to fight his way to fifth man Vandoninck and in the last bend he made his move!
The final of the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross will be held during the Zwarte Cross in Lichtenvoorde. The 250cc riders will be in action on Sunday, July 21! Jacobi is 17 points ahead of reigning champion Geerts, who today managed to make up twelve points over the Kawasaki rider.
