Daymond Martens and Avo Tack dominate in Avesnes
The beautiful Belfontaine circuit in Avesnes-Sur-helpe was the scene of the third stage of the Northern French championship on May 1. Just like the previous competitions, the series were again more than well filled with a lot of Belgians at the start. Daymond Martens and Avo Tack were the Belgian stars!
However, a beautiful MX day was overshadowed by a heavy fall in the super final with Jeremy Coen and the young promising Pierre Morel as victims. Our compatriot Jeremy Coen escaped with some bruises, but little Morel needed to be taken care of, which caused a red flag situation.
In the MX1 class, the spectators saw a fantastic duel between Sabry Ghembala and the Belgian star Daymond Martens. The latter only returned to the competition after a spinal fracture, but Martens did not seem to suffer the slightest. He won both series ahead of Sabry Ghembala and Jeremy Coen who had missed his start each time. Killigan Delroeux is also getting better and now finished fifth ahead of BMB champion Jochem Walckiers. Kevin Manege was also in the top ten. Unlucky in this round were Donny Schmidt and Mathieu Vanderbeke who lost a lot of points due to mechanical problems.
Jermey Haucquier was at the start in the MX2 class and the young Belofte immediately showed that he is following in his father's footsteps. He won the MX2 class ahead of Antoine Fondu. This time, classification leader Matteo Puffet had to be satisfied with fifth place after a poorer final series. Florian Martin just reached ten, which could not be said for Yann Meulemeester who remained in eleventh place.
In the 125 cc class, Meor rider Avo Tack was a size too big for the opposition on this circuit. Only ex-GP rider Nicolas Langue was able to stay close to him for a while, but then the West Flemish rider disappeared from view of the opposition. Tack won both series by a wide margin while Wouter Dormont became the second Belgian in sixth place. Emiel Soens and Thomas Claro were the other promises in the top ten.
In the 85 cc class everyone had expected an attack from the Belgian champion Noach Deboutez on the leading position of Stephane Vasseur. A flat tire in the first heat immediately forced the Technicross pilot to retire. Stephane Vasseur immediately took victory and is now more firmly in the saddle for the championship. The tiny Hugo Stiennes became the best Belgian in third place, with Noah Deboutez in fifth place and Bryan Maes in ninth place.
The super final was therefore stopped after a serious accident, but for the sake of form we note that Sabry Ghembala took the victory ahead of Daymond Martens. Next appointment on May 12 at the Fontaine-au-Pire circuit where host Gerrit Dourte and the Coenen brothers await the caravan
