BK/VLM Molenbeersel: Finally Jeremy Delincé!
The combined VLM/BMB competition took place today at the Vlasbrei in Grootbeersel. Purebred Jeremy Delincé is certainly often found in the front ranks in his own country, but overall victories are rarer. Today, however, the sympathetic KMP Honda rider took the victory!
MC De Grensduivels signed up in Molenbeersel ready for the fourth round of the VLM Inters and the fifth round of the Belgian Motorcross Championships and of course also for the usual JMS program and the Belgian classic car cross championship. More about that you read here.
Due to the coincidence with the Dutch Masters, top players such as Yentel Martens, Cedric Grobben and Tallon Verhelst were unfortunately missing from the roll call. The first series at the Inters 500 was dominated by champion Jens Van Meer. He quickly dealt with fast starter Jens Carlier and subsequently dominated the heat. Delincé had to come back after a poor start, but did so with gusto. The Liège native systematically moved to the front, when after five laps he took over second place from a fast Glenn Bielen, Van Meer was already too far away. The top 5 was completed by Seronval, Mike Vanderstraeten - nice catch-up race by the way - and Roy Sillien.
In an unprecedented second heat, who knows, perhaps the flattening of the track had something to do with it, Kristof Salaets not only shot away from the field at the head, the sympathetic veteran would lead the field for laps. Delincé had now started better, took over the lead from Salaets and finished the job neatly. Now Seronval was third ahead of Sillien and Salaets. Jens Van Meer, who crashed in the second corner, seemed to be the loser of the day on paper, but with a blood-curdling recovery he turned the tide. The BeTeMo leader unleashed his devils and rode from the very back of the field to fifth place after 10 laps. That despite a second fall. Van Meer also retains control in the standings of the VLM championship. He now leads the VLM championship with 12 points ahead of Seronval.
Jonathan Banks 1 – Greg Smets 1
In the quarter liters, tenors Jonathan Banken and Greg Smets balanced the plates. Banks held back polesitter Mark Boot for the win in the first series. After a furious catch-up race, championship leader Greg Smets finished fourth, a handful of seconds behind Brent Aerden. The same Aerden did a great job in the standings today because he rose from eighth to fourth place!
The second heat was one of great display of power for Smets. He led from the first to the last lap and crossed the line more than 11 seconds ahead of Mark Boot. The top five consisted of Banken, Jordi Van Mieghem and Enzo Aerden.
The sidecar fans were looking forward to the first round of the Belgian Championship. The reigning world - and Belgian champions Marvin Vanluchene and Ben van den Bogaart (2-1) gained the upper hand over Arne Dierckens-Robbie Bax (1-2) thanks to a victory in the second round! An excellent ending to a day that had started with difficulty, because Team Vanluchene had to start from the second row due to mechanical problems during the timed training. The regular duo Nick Janssenss-Rhomas Smeuninx took third place on the podium. The day position of the sidecar class you can find here.
