Antoine Magain impresses in Rocroi
Known as the most beautiful enduro of the year, this was on the programme. Namely the enduro from Rocroi. Thanks to the perfect mix of a beautiful connecting route combined with two typical French grass tests and one enduro test in line, all the ingredients were present for a great competition. For the Ligue1 pilots (Prestige, Inters, Nationals, Beloften) there were no fewer than 3 rounds of 90 km on the program, making for a sloppy 8h race.
From the first to the last test, the KTM pilot from Nismes always managed to set the fastest time. Cedric Cremer did come within less than a second in test two in the last round. However, the Zonerouge Yamaha pilot came up short at the end of the day compared to the two junior world championship pilots. Matthew Vanoevelen had a good day and became second scratch.
In fourth place we saw none other than former supercross champion Rodrig Thain. Jeff Goblet also emerged after a difficult start to the season. He competed with Mathias Van Hoof and Lillo Ghautier for a place in the top 5. Ultimately, after more than 45 minutes of special time, Goblet came out on top with just 0,4 seconds ahead of Van Hoof. The Beta pilot from Herentals was disappointed and relieved at the same time, sorry about that 0.4 sec, but happy with his sixth place scratch. Lillo finished seventh. Jilani Cambre, who performed so well in the World Cup two weeks ago, had an off day and finished in eighth place.
Maxime Warenghien and Damien Wauthier finished ninth and tenth.
The result in the Prestige class was as follows:
1. Antoine Magain
2. Matthew Vanoevelen
3. Cedric Cremer
4. Jeff Goblet
5. Gauthier Lillo
6. Jilani Cambre
7. Wim Vanderheyden
In the Inter class, the victory went to Mathias Van Hoof for the second week in a row. He managed to win no fewer than four of the nine tests and thus increased his lead in the standings. Maxime Warenghien came second and Whautier snuck off the podium in third place.
