Veldman/Janssens ride from 29th place to the GP win in heat 1!
Julian Veldman and Glenn Janssens masterfully won the first GP heat in Lommel after a very bad start. Willemsen came second and Vanluchene took third place in the first heat.
There was no size on team Veldman. After a bad start, Veldman left the starting field in 29th position, Veldman/Janssens were able to make up the heat spots and in the 30th minute they even took over the first place from Willemsen/Rostingt! Willemsen managed to stay second ahead of the persistent Vanluchene, who finished third.
Sanders, who took the holeshot with a sidecar length lead, finished fourth after a battle in the final stages with Giraud who finished fifth.
Bax/Stupelis finished sixth after a heat with several problems. They had already crashed near the bump near the party tent and in the last lap Bax lost driver Stupelis while they were chasing Sanders and Giraud. There was no more than sixth place.
This also applied to Hermans who had dropped out at the start and as the heat progressed he came to place 7 with Dierckens, after a good start, in place 8.
Result heat 1;
1. Veldman/Janssens, 2. Willemsen/Rostingt, 3.Vanluchene/Van den Boogaart, 4. Sanders/Kunnas, 5. Giraud/Haller, 6. Bax/Stupelis, 7. Hermans/Musset, 8. Dierckens/Bax
