Technique: This is how you replace a motocross tire!
Everyone who owns a dirt bike knows about it. How do you replace a cross tire without damaging the rim? Everyone has their way of completing this job, but is your method the right one?
Replacing a motocross tire can be a tough job. Especially if the old tire is old and has been on the rim for years. Rubber has a bad tendency to harden and that makes it difficult to remove an old tire. Moreover, a cross tire is always very stiff given the enormous forces that the rubber has to absorb. Motocross is hard on tires and therefore correct working methods are important during disassembly and assembly.
The American magazine Dirt Rider Magazine (a sister magazine of the even more famous Motocross Action Magazine) posted a video on YouTube with one of the better ways to replace a motocross tire. What do you need? A tire mounting stand, some suitable tire levers, mounting soap, some wrenches and compressed air. You can expect more videos from us in the future with different methods, but of course only if they offer added value. Here's the first one.
