Liam Everts enters the top 10!!
After a promising first EMX125 round in Valkenswaard, Liam Everts (14) provided confirmation in Italy. The young KTM pilot recorded his first top-10 finish in Pietramurata. Liamski finished 7th in the heats respectivelyde in 11. de. Beautiful work without a doubt, and there could have been even more!
In the first moto Everts came from outside the top 10 back to 7thde cutting. On a technically difficult track, Limburger caught the eye with some unprecedented overtaking actions. “I had a great time yesterday! In fact, the track was in perfect condition and I had found a few spots where I could make a difference. I really enjoyed that race,” Liam beamed.
Although his start was much better today - Liam was in the top 5 - things turned out more smoothly today. “Phew, almost immediately I was rewarded. Sand had gotten into my glasses, obstructing my vision. No excuses because I just couldn't find my way like I did in that first moto. The circuit was flat, many corners were very slippery and there was only one good line. Somehow I expected that I would fall back a bit in such circumstances after a good start, but now the setback was too big.”
Compared to his EMX125 competitors, the Belgian rookie is still inferior in terms of strength and stature. With his cool technique - standing nicely upright on the footrests - and regularity, Everts immediately shows that he is made of the right stuff. The Topsport Flanders rider is now ninth in the standings of the European Championship 125cc. “No, before my first year I did not expect that I would be where I am now! In certain sections of the course I also felt that I was disadvantaged by my stature, but I learn something every time,” said Everts.
Since November last he has switched to 125cc. In his last season on the 85cc, “Liamski” took bronze at the European Championships. This year, results are not a must, although Everts and his buddy Kay De Wolf, who was on the podium today, show that the newcomers in the class should certainly be taken into account!
