Leferink/Veldman win the National Championship sidecars in Oldebroek!
Tim Leferink and Sam Veldman have won the National Championship sidecars in Oldebroek. Just like in Lommel, the duo was able to take their place on the highest podium scaffold after a first and second place in the heats. Kevin van Vaerenberg/Bjorn Roes were second on the podium. Vos/Hoessen eventually finished third and we saw a satisfied six on the podium at the Bargen circuit in Oldebroek.
A lot happened in both heats, but the devil was clearly in the tail. In the first heat, Van Dijk took the holeshot and was followed halfway through the heat by Hurkmans and Leferink. Hurkmans had to release something and so we saw Leferink/Veldman put the fire on Van Dijk/Van der Putten.
In the last lap, in the last 200 meters of the first heat, Leferink brazenly put his sidecar around the outside (see photo) and was able to end up just ahead of Van Dijk before the next last corner and thus take the first place, which was only a few seconds away. after this he cashed in at the finish with Van Dijk in second and Hurkmans in third.
In the second heat we again saw Van Dijk as the fastest at the start, but the combination dropped out in this heat. This was the case for Weijers/Van der Putten in the first round, but in the second round this duo was no match. They won the second heat with flying colors. Leferink/Veldman did join in at one point, but let Weijers go, knowing that with second place they had won the day and a truckload of NK points. Van Vaerenberg/Roes rode closely in third place throughout the heat and together with their fourth place from the first heat, this was enough to be classified second of the day.
Wilfred Vos and Moreno Hoessen took home rider Cor van Werven fifth place in the last lap and that, together with their fifth place in the first heat, was just enough to take third place on the podium.
