Kay Karssemakers is getting going!
During the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Oss, Kay Karssemakers finished just off the podium. Last weekend the KTM Diga Junior Racing rider was successful in Lommel! Thanks to a third and second place in the heats, Kay finished second in the final standings after Dave Kooiker.
In view of the Belgian EMX125 round in August, the side program of the EMX65/85 round was an appointment not to be missed and an interesting first test in the sandbox of Lommel. Karssemakers was present all weekend and claimed the leading role during the timed training. The 14-year-old from Boxtel took pole in pre-qualifying.
After a poor start in the qualifying round, Kay fought back to fourth place. Nikita Kucherov was also defeated in the final round, finishing third. Poor starts also affected Karssemakers on Sunday. He always started the match in the sub-top or just outside. Still, the KTM Diga Junior Racing rider proved he had a good rhythm. For example, he took third place in the first moto and finished second after finishing tenth.
This weekend Karssemakers will compete in the ONK in Lelystad, the following weekend the second round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross is scheduled.
Kay Karssemakers: “The driving was certainly not bad, just a shame about my bad starts. It was also quite difficult to overtake. It was nice to finally be on the podium, although with better starts it would certainly have been better. All in all, it was certainly a positive weekend, and I am satisfied with the driving itself. This is extra motivating for the coming competitions!”
