Karlis Alberts Reisulis wins the first DMofMX 85.
Karlis Alberts Reisulis won the first race of the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross 85cc on a sun-drenched circuit 'De Witte Ruijsheuvel'. The Latvian came second and first in Oss during the heats over 20 minutes and one lap. This gave Reisulis the day's victory and the 'Redplate', followed by Cas Valk (1-2) and the 11-year-old Raff de Wolf (3-4).
Bradley Mesters takes the best start in the first heat, but the race is stopped because a rider has crashed and needs care. At the restart, Van Erp takes the best start ahead of Mirco ten Kate and De Wolf. The local hero tries to distance himself, but Valk and Reisulis manage to prevent this. Van Erp is allowed to lead the pace for almost 15 minutes and then Reisulis passes after having caught Valk moments before. The Latvian made the mistake himself a little later and the same thing happened to Van Erp. Valk wins the first round ahead of Reisulis and De Wolf! A special achievement for De Wolf, who had a serious crash last year and lost his enjoyment of the sport for a while. The Husqvarna rider is back and riding a great first moto. This also applies to Ten Kate, who finished fourth ahead of a Mesters making his debut in this class. Unfortunately, Van Erp does not finish and he therefore immediately suffers a lot of damage in the title battle.
The second HGS Holeshot Award goes to Ten Kate, but Reisulis comes out of the first round as leader and he will not relinquish this place. Valk chased the entire race, but the rider from Nijverdal had to settle for second place, 28 seconds behind the winner. Van Erp fights back the pain after his crash in the first moto and the local hero crosses the finish line in third place. De Wolf finished fourth to the delight of his parents. The top five is completed by the Swede Laban Alm.
The championship will continue in three weeks, when the points will be distributed in Axel, Zeeland. This competition is a one-day event and will be held on May 5.
