Good starts resulted in Aspers winning the day in Overloon
Romano Aspers (photo) took the day's victory in Overloon in the MX2 youth (MON). The foundation for this victory was mainly laid with good starts in both heats. As a result, Aspers quickly took a lead over the struggling competition behind it. He managed to win both heats. Second place went to Jeremy Knuiman. After two bad starts, Knuiman needed too much time to emerge from the middle of the pack. This gave Aspers plenty of time to take a decisive lead. Knuiman therefore had to be satisfied with second place twice in the heats. The best German during this joint competition of the DAMCV and MON was Carl Osterman. With a fifth and fourth place he achieved third place in the overall ranking. Based on the second round he was ahead of Jesse Schel.
First heat
The best start was for Osterman ahead of Nico Wester (German), Aspers, Robin Knuf and Bailey Aken. Quickly on the first lap Aspers passed Wester and Osterman and took the lead. Osterman also saw Wester pass him by. In the meantime, Knuiman had started to catch up from twelfth place. On the third lap he passed van Aken and Knuf to finish fourth. In the following lap, Knuiman also passed Osterman and Wester and took over second place. Wester fell far back in this round and saw Osterman, Knuf, van Aken, Jonathen Frorath (German), Michon Voets and Jesse Schel pass him by. Aspers had now built up a large lead and could no longer be traced. Knuiman crossed the finish line in second place, one ahead of the competing riders behind him. The battle for third place lasted until the last lap. After passing first van Aken and Knuf, Voets and Schel passed Osterman on the last lap and finished third and fourth.
Second heat
In the second moto Aspers immediately took the lead ahead of Osterman, Frorath, Sem Beijer and Winston Heberer (Ger). Frorath fell far back in the first lap. Van Aken passed Beijer and Heberer, among others, and came third. However, in the next round it was Beijer who took over third place again and then took over second place from Osterman in the fourth round. Knuiman had again had a bad start and finished fourth at the expense of Heberer and van Aken. All this happened behind the back of Aspers, who had already taken a large lead. Knuiman recorded the fastest lap times and continued his progress. Both Osterman and Beijer were overtaken to take over second place on the seventh lap and open the hunt for Aspers. Schel had now passed Heberer and van Aken and finished fifth. Aspers' lead was big enough and he won the heat again. Knuiman finished in second place at more than 3 seconds. Beijer, Osterman and Schel completed the top five.
