Bitter pill for Maarten Govaert!
The fears that Maarten Govaert (Leon Sagaert Yamaha) had after he unfortunately had to put his foot down in Galmaarden this weekend were confirmed yesterday. The sympathetic Wetternaar has torn his meniscus and the posterior cruciate ligament has been torn. The operation will follow next week.
A podium in Stekene during the opening cross, fourth in Beernem last week and a sixth place in the strong first round in Galmaarden. These are some of Maarten's achievements this season. Both in terms of riding and physically, the experienced Yamaha rider continued to improve. Now his season is over in one fell swoop. “After the operation, I will have to recuperate for six months before the knee is 100% again... Too bad, but that's the way it is! I will still be present at most MCLB competitions to provide advice and assistance to all Yamaha pilots. “I would like to once again thank all the sponsors for everything,” said Govaert.
We wish Maarten a successful operation and a successful rehabilitation.
