Special return of Eric Leijtens
After being absent for two seasons, Eric Leijtens returns behind the starting gate this year. The Brabander suffered from a number of injuries and at the beginning of 2017 he decided to let everything heal properly. Because sitting still is not an option, the Brabander started his own company and is now back on his motorcycle. And how, because during the first KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross, the 26-year-old rider finished tenth! A special achievement in a starting field with a lot of Grand Prix violence!
The rider from Waspik managed to get out of the starting blocks well during the first heat. It seemed as if he had never left and he immediately joined the leading group. The KTM rider came out of the first round seventh, but then lost this position to the Norwegian Horgmo. After almost 25 minutes of racing, the Norwegian drops out and the No Fear Energy-supported rider can regain seventh place. This is then no longer in danger until the finish flag falls. A great achievement in this strong field of participants!
The start of the second round is again good, but before the first corner GP rider Vialle makes a mistake. What follows is a crash with six riders, including Leijtens! Fortunately, the race can be continued and the first round is completed in 33rd place. The EL4 Racing rider then comes forward with great strides and the round ends in 15th place! Despite limited preparation last winter, Leijtens can look back on a very good first DMofMX!
