Belgian victories for Deboutez, Puffet & Coen in Northern France
The Northern French championship was in its second stage on the supercross circuit of Fontaine Les Croisilles. This time the French-Belgian match turned out to be a hyper-exciting day with a super final to die for, with Jeremy Coen as the big winner (intro photo).
In the 85 cc class, Belgian champion Noah Deboutez managed to stop dominator Stephane Vasseur. Already in the first heat there was a sprint, but Deboutez crashed hard in the last corner with a doubled rider, allowing Vasseur to hold on to the lead. After the break, however, the Technicross rider put the finishing touches on the team and secured the first Belgian victory in the 85 cc class. The second Belgian was Bryan Maes, who finished ninth after a neat final series.
In the 125 cc class, Emiel Soens almost caused a surprise by being in the top three for a long time. Ultimately, the West Flemish had to be satisfied with sixth place after a slip in the final series. Wouter Dormont is also slowly but surely gaining steam and finished seventh.
In the MX2 class, leader Kristof Van Vaerenbergh was absent due to a serious knee injury, but his place was taken over without any problems by our compatriot Matteo Puffet. The Belgian Junior Champion demonstrated in both series and is therefore the new leader in the standings. Yann Meulemeester is also starting to perform better as the KTM rider took a nice seventh place.
Sabry Ghembala continues to demonstrate among the MX1 riders. The Yamaha rider won both series ahead of the Belgians Mathieu Vanderbeke and Jeremy Coen. Youngster Killigan Delroeux parked his Yam in fifth place ahead of Gaetan Minique. Jerome Benonit (7), Maxime Lurkin (8) and Donny Schmidt (10) were also able to place in the top ten.
A major thriller was created during the super final. Jeremy Coen had made the best start, but Sabry Ghembala also showed up from the bottom of the peloton. The Frenchman rode three seconds faster than the rest of the field and ended up on Jeremy Coen's rear wheel two laps from the end. However, the Belgian did not fold anymore and won the super final ahead of a disappointed Ghembala who has lost his maximum. Next appointment for the Northern French on May 01 at the renovated circuit of Avesnes-Sur-Helpes
