Action in Axel during Dutch Masters of Motocross
Is Arminas Jasikonis the man to beat again? Will we have another battle between De Wolf and Verbruggen? Does Jacobi dominate the 250cc? And is Ivano van Erp having a good weekend? You will experience it on May 5 in Axel during round two of the Dutch Masters of Motocross!
Axel will be taking part in the rematch after the planned weekend in March was canceled due to severe weather. RES Axel put their shoulders to the wheel and once again provides a top event, with a very strong field of participants.
Situation
Dutch Masters in Oss was an exciting first round, which means that the battle in the rankings is in full swing at both the front and the back of the field.
In the 500cc it was Husqvarna vs. Yamaha. Jasikonis took first place in all sessions, followed by the technical Gautier Paulin. Behind them, Glenn Coldenhoff and Max Anstie of Stand Construct KTM both finished third and fourth once. Coldenhoff does want to take the podium in Axel. He has been training hard on the track recently, so that promises something.
The Dutch F&H Kawasaki made a big impression in the 250cc in Oss. Henry Jacobi won both heats, Adam Sterry finished third and Roan van de Moosdijk was one of the fastest all weekend. A crash in the second moto threw a spanner in the works. The big question is whether big men like Horgmo, Watson, Geerts or Vialle can stop the green machines in Axel...
There was real battle in the 125cc class. These young dogs went to the extreme. The two top riders Kay de Wolf and Kjell Verbruggen even went a little further... Verbruggen hit De Wolf in the last corner and was disqualified. The men meet again in Axel. But right in that fight Dave Kooiker wasn't out either. He has taken several podiums at home and abroad in recent weeks. He will also do everything he can to take over the red plate from De Wolf.
In the 85cc class, Ivano van Erp, Cas Valk and Raff de Wolf have to deal with a classification leader from Latvia: Karlis Alberts Reisulis came first and second in Oss. Valk is equal with him on points, Van Erp wants revenge for his failure and De Wolf wants to go higher on the podium. That's going to be a blast!
Participant lists
The track in Oss was hard, with high speeds. How different is that in Axel; That means punching holes in the yellow sand! And you can expect even more spectacle with the addition of a number of Grand Prix riders, such as Brent van Donick and Factory Husqvarna rider Mikkel Haarup.
And what about Nancy van de Ven, multiple runner up in the Women's World Cup! The Zeelander is at home on the track in Axel and is therefore not missing from the very strong field of 250cc participants!
