2 Ride group (Shark) takes over Nolan!
Commotion in Helmet Land! The French 2Ride Holdings group, owner of Shark helmets and Bering motorcycle clothing, among others, has acquired the Nolan Group (Nolan, Grex, X-lite). Together, this new group would have a turnover of around 150 million euros and 1000 employees.
This mega deal has not yet been completely completed as the competition authority still has to give the green light due to antitrust law. That decision is expected in a few months. Neither Nolan nor Shark are fully committed to motocross, although both brands do have off-road helmets in their range. Shark has been sponsoring ex-MX2 world champion Jordi Tixier since last year.
The Italian company Nolan has an annual production of approximately 400.000 motorcycle helmets. It is also striking that the brand still produces in its own country, in Bergamo. This production will be maintained in the future. It seems likely that 2 Ride will grow even further in the future. Investment fund Eurazeo PME previously made it clear that they want to double the size of the 2Ride group. More acquisitions are therefore in the offing.
