Mixed success for Standing Construct KTM in Argentina GP
The Standing Construct KTM team had mixed success in the first round of the MXGP World Championship in Argentina. The first of the 19 races world championship was held on the beautiful Neuquen circuit.
Max Anstie showed good speed on Saturday and managed to qualify for the race in fifth place. Unfortunately, he suffered a setback in the first heat because early in the race he suffered a minor mechanical problem after a fall, which forced him to leave the race. Anstie and the team were undeterred and came back strong in the second heat by crossing the finish line in fourth. With this, the Brit shows that he is in good shape and that we can expect great things from him in the rest of the season.
Ivo Monticelli and Glenn Coldenhoff had a more difficult time. Coldenhoff (photo) came to Argentina with a training deficit, but wanted to gain as much rhythm as possible and try to limit the damage as much as possible. Monticelli showed that he had good speed in both heats, but unfortunately was unable to last a full heat.
He finished fifteenth and sixteenth in the heats, ahead of Coldenhoff, who finished seventeenth and eighteenth.
The next Grand Prix is in three weeks in Matterley Basin, England, giving the riders three extra weeks to work on their form and once again hunt for World Championship points. Before that happens, however, the team will first compete in the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Axel on March 17.
