Van de Ven takes revenge but Verstappen wins!
After a poor first round, Nancy van de Ven managed to get revenge during the second race of the opening weekend. The Vlissingen native won the second round ahead of Amandine Verstappen and Larissa Papenmeier. With two second places, Verstappen wins the Grand Prix and thus conquers the first 'Redplate' of the season! Van de Ven comes second in the daily rankings ahead of Papenmeier. Courtney Duncan (1-7) finishes fourth ahead of Shana van der Vlist! The Apeldoorn native is riding a great race on the Eurocircuit!
In the first round no one was a match for Duncan and the New Zealander won quite easily. Verstappen was put under pressure by Larissa Papenmeier, but the Belgian did not succumb. The result was a good second place for Verstappen, followed by Papenmeier and Van de Ven, who did not get into the race well. Van der Vlist finished fifth, while Lynn Valk (7th), Nicky van Wordrageren (8th), Amber Simons (18th) and Britt Jans-Beken (20th) also managed to score points!
The German Papenmeier takes the best start in the second round, but Duncan takes the lead on the first bump. Verstappen follows in third place ahead of Van de Ven and Meghan Rutledge. Papenmeier drops back to fourth place in the first full lap while Van de Ven increases the pressure on Yamaha colleague Verstappen. The No Fear Energy-supported rider takes second place and then puts leader Duncan under pressure. After more than 15 minutes of competition, this pressure becomes too much and the Kawasaki rider falls! Van de Ven takes the lead and wins ahead of Verstappen and Papenmeier. The same three ladies also climb onto the stage for the ceremony. Van der Vlist again finished fourth for the Danish Line Dam thanks to a very strong condition. Despite her painful wrist, Valk now finishes sixth ahead of Duncan and Van Wordrageren crosses the finish line in ninth. Britt Jans-Beken (17th) scores again and so do Brenda Wagemans (19th) and Simons (20th).
This championship will continue on May 18-19 in Agueda, Portugal.
