“TKO” makes an impression in Patagonia!
Thomas Kjer-Olsen (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) has started the MX2 World Championship strongly. Although Jorge Prado won the Argentine GP, Olsen always came back after a poor start and finished second in both heats. Ok on Saturday, 3TKO” showed that his speed is good and managed to finish in second place in both heats.
The weekend started well for Olsen. With the fastest time in the free and timed training, he started the qualifying heat with confidence. Although he didn't get off to a good start, he fought his way back to the front and defeated Prado and Jacobi in the closing stages to take pole.
A bad start in the first moto meant that he had to play catch-up. Giving everything and looking for lines where he could overtake, he made up one position after another. When he arrived in second place, the leader was already too far away, so Thomas finished the race in a controlled race in second place. In the second moto his start was better and he worked his way up to a second position earlier. He tried to close the gap to the leader but despite his efforts, he was unable to do so. Olsen again crossed the finish line in second place and has made a strong start in the championship.
Thomas Kjer Olsen: “I am satisfied with my results. Of course I would have wanted to win here, but we scored well and the championship is still long. My speed was good all weekend and we will continue to build on that for the next race."
The next MX2 World Championship race will take place on March 23 and 24 in Britain's Matterley Basin.
