Prado at a lonely height, Geerts on the podium
The third Grand Prix of the season in Valkenswaard was controlled by Jorge Prado-Garcia! The 18-year-old rider from Lugo, Northern Spain, managed to win both heats. Thomas Kjer Olsen (2-3) finishes second in the daily rankings ahead of Jago Geerts (7-2)! In a stunning second round, the rider from Balen manages to jump to the podium in Valkenswaard. Calvin Vlaanderen is close to the podium with fourth place. Bas Vaessen is eleventh in the daily rankings, Davy Pootjes (13th) and Brent Van Doninck (14th) are also in the points.
1e some
Prado immediately takes the lead in the first round, after which no one sees the Spaniard again. Kjer Olsen comes out of the first corner in second place, but the Dane cannot make a fist against the small KTM rider. Jacobi starts third, but he briefly loses this position to Tom Vialle. The German comes back quickly and he finishes third ahead of Calvin Vlaanderen and Ben Watson. A great race by Davy Pootjes, the Husqvarna rider finished sixth ahead of Geerts. Vaessen crosses the finish line in fifteenth and Vandoninck scores three points in eighteenth place. During his GP debut, Raivo Dankers scores 22nd place, Freek van der Vlist comes 28th and Marcel Conijn crosses the finish line in 30th. Unfortunately, Lars Greekpoor does not finish after a serious crash in the initial phase.
2e some
For the third time this year, Prado managed to win the FOX Holeshot Award. The reigning world champion is followed by Jacobi, Kjer Olsen and Vialle. At the end of the first lap, 'TKO' manages to take second place from Jacobi, but the former EMX250 champion cannot keep up with the leader's pace. The leader in the championship seems to come second, but Geerts thinks differently. I manage to connect with the KEMEA rider in the final phase and jumps past Kjer Olsen just before the finish! Geerts comes second ahead of Kjer Olsen and Flanders. Watson manages to displace Jacobi from fifth place. Vandoninck is eleventh, Dankers is 24th while Conijn is good for 30th place. Pootjes and Van der Vlist do not reach the finish and Greek track will not be in action in the second round.
The Grand Prix circus continues next week on the beautiful circuit of Arco di Trento!
