Positive balance of Van Hoof and Vanoevelen in EnduroGP
The Belgians did not miss their start in the Enduro World Championship. Matthew Vanoevelen finished fourth in the Junior 1 E1 this weekend in Dahlen, Germany. He finished sixth in the overall junior rankings. Mathias Vanhoof was also present in Germany in the new World Cup Open class. He finished a creditable sixth!
Antoine Magain (KTM) had to miss the race due to an injury, but the small Belgian delegation in Dahlen ensured quality. Matthew Vanoevelen steered his new factory Gas Gas to two fourth places. On Friday he even finished third in the overall junior standings in the Supertest! Matthew will now compete in the French championship on Sunday instead of the first round of the Belgian Championship on Belgian soil in Mettet.
Mathias Van Hoof (intro photo) went to Germany as an experiment. The sympathetic resident of Herentals absolutely did not know in advance what to expect. Ultimately, the Beta rider became one of the surprises in his class. He finished the two days excellently in sixth place. “ Saturday was a really great day! It's a pity that I presented the bike 2 seconds too late when changing tires in the evening, which meant I had to pay a one-minute penalty. I also apparently missed an obstacle in the connection and took another minute of staff time. On Sunday I had a slightly more difficult time on the hard-riding specials. However, overall I am satisfied with my first weekend in the EnduroGP.”
The next World Cup match will take place the first weekend of May in Valpacoss, Portugal. Hopefully Antoine Magain will be there again!
