Kjer Olsen fights his way to Argentinian pole
The first pole position of the FIM MX2 World Championship has been captured by Thomas Kjer Olsen. The Husqvarna rider managed to triumph in qualifying on the beautiful Neuquen circuit. The Dane managed to break away from reigning world champion Jorge Prado and the fantastic driving Henry Jacobi in the final phase. The best Dutchman is Calvin Vlaanderen, the Honda rider comes fifth. The best Belgian is Jago Geerts, the Yamaha rider finished tenth.
As we are used to, Prado takes the best start, the Spaniard is followed by KTM colleague Tom Vialle, Jacobi, Alvin Ostlund and Geerts. In the third lap Vialle makes a mistake and Jacobi takes over second place. Kjer Olsen has now worked his way up to third place behind the German. The leader has a two-lap march, but the battle for second place brings the chasers closer! With six minutes to go, Jacobi takes the lead but Prado quickly comes back! Exactly two laps later, Kjer Olsen can take second place from Prado and take the lead moments later. The rider from Jacky Martens' team wins ahead of Prado, who manages to put Jacobi aside in the last lap. The F&H Racing driver comes third ahead of Ben Watson from Flanders, who thus becomes the best Dutchman. Geerts turns ten, Davy Pootjes crosses the finish line in twelfth. Bas Vaessen is good for sixteenth place and Brent Vandoninck sends the Honda to 19th place.
