Horgmo starts the season with a podium finish
Despite a serious crash during the first moto, Kevin Horgmo still managed to score a podium place in the first race of the European 250cc Championship. The Norwegian managed to finish second at the Matterley Basn circuit, near Winchester, in the second moto of the weekend. This means he still scores 22 points for the hard-fought championship. The victory went to Alberto Forato who won both heats.
Matches:
After a successful qualifying, Kevin starts the first heat with confidence. The KTM rider gets off to a good start and immediately joins the leading group. The battle is fierce and the riders make it difficult for each other at every turn. The battle for fifth place broke out after almost ten minutes. 18-year-old Kevin is fighting with Van de Moosdijk for this position when Rubini joins. The Frenchman takes sixth place from the CreyMert Racing driver. This one doesn't go well, but then jumps a little too far and hits Rubini's rear wheel. The result is a heavy crash by Kevin who fortunately escapes unscathed, but the race is over.
The start of the second heat is very good for Kevin who starts the race as the leader. The Italian Forato takes the lead on the first lap and breaks away from the rider from Åmot. He then races a lonely race, but is able to send the Motorex-lubricated SX250F across the finish line in second place. With this he manages to keep the damage of the first heat within reasonable limits!
Next game:
The European 125cc Championship starts next week during the Grand Prix of the Netherlands. This competition will be held at the Eurocircuit of Valkenswaard. The EMX250 continues on April 6-7 in Arco di Trento, Italy.
