EMX125: looking forward to the stars of tomorrow!
The EMX125, the European Championship, is the gateway to the GPs. By performing well in this championship, a rider can get into the spotlight and advance to the GPs. We are looking forward to a large Dutch and Belgian delegation in this exciting class. They all want to prove themselves this weekend!
Someone who certainly has this in mind is Kay de Wolf. The 14-year-old Husqvarna rider from Eersel has had an excellent pre-season, in which he achieved impressive successes in international competitions.
Because it is the first competition of the EMX125 this year, nothing is yet known about the mutual power relations, but it certainly seems that “The Red Hurricane” is one of the biggest contenders for a podium place. Hopefully he can reach the top step of the podium.
In addition to De Wolf, sixteen other Dutch talents have registered. Among them even more super fast guys such as Jumbo No Fear BT Racing's Kjell Verbruggen (intro photo), Kay Karssemakers (KTM Diga Junior Racing) and of course the Belgian Liam Everts! Verbruggen seemingly came from nowhere last year but ended the 2018 European Championship season with a resounding series victory and a podium in Assen. The Husqvarna rider is one of the big contenders in front of his own audience.
Just like peers Karssemakers and De Wolf, Liam Everts (photo above) is starting his first season on the 125cc. Liamski has had a good preseason and seems to have adapted quickly to the 125cc. Among the more experienced riders we find the British Eddie Jay Wade, Cameron Durow, Wannes Van de Voorde, Dave Kooiker and Lucas Adam.
To be allowed to start in the competition, qualification must first be enforced in the timed training. With perhaps close to a hundred participants, that will be quite a task. Forty riders will start in the race. The complete entry list for the EMX125 you can find here.
